Epoxy Coating Process

The below guide is a summary of the steps required on how to apply epoxy floor paints. This guide applies to a simple roller applied two-coat floor. Such floors are suitable for light and medium wear and tear, perfect for garages and storage rooms.

Description of Chemicals:

Engineer Plus DURA ESL 201 wall Coating System:

E. P. DURA ESL 201 Floor Coating is two components, 100% solid epoxy provides heavy duty protection to floors exposed to heavy foot traffic, rubber tyre vehicle traffic, and intermittent chemical spills splashes and power washings. It is easily cleanable and ideal system for clean wall surface of water tank , where primary concern is cleanliness and anti bacterial properties. It has excellent abrasion impact and chemical resistance.


  • Removal of loose cement from wall joint with cutter.
  • Priming of the wall joint with epoxy primer.
  • Filling wall joint with resin rich epoxy putty.
  • Proper Surface preparation with wall grinders for strong bonding of epoxy primer.
  • Application of Epoxy Primer over the prepared surface.
  • Application of 1mm thick “DURA” Epoxy Screed. (High Strength Underlay)
  • Application of 1mm thick ESL 201 Floor Topping.

RATE: (For 2mm thick): Material & Application Rate: Rs.149 /- per sq. feet. 

Rate  : Rs 149.00  per sq.ft. (Rates are inclusive Chemicals, Labour, mechanical tools , cement & Supervision etc)

Working area: 5000 sq.ft- (Approx)Area of treated place should be calculated as per actual or as per side in charge direction.


  • Taxes and Duties: 18 % GST.

Payment Terms : 

  1. 80 % Advance with work order for  dispatch of Materials.
  2. 20 %   after Completion of  Job.

Validity:  Our quotation is valid for a period of 30 days from this date and validity thereof is subject to our final confirmation.

  • Completion:  The above work shall be completed as per schedule mutually discussed and agreed, to avoid inconvenience place the order well in advance. 
  1. The work order and advance must be allowed 7 working Days prior to the date of commencement of work. To arrange the materials and utilities.
  2. Kindly ensure the work area to be available on time so that our workmen’s idle and other inconvenience in service can be avoided.
  • Water and Electricity:  Necessary construction water and power required for execution of our work should be provided free of cost by you.
  • Work will be started within time frame. After receiving confirm work order  along with advance.
  • Interest will be charged @ 24% on all payments made after 7 days.
  • Subject to Indore jurisdiction.
  • If required terrace finishing & coba work charge will be extra.

Warantee-12 Months for any performance defect and debonding.

Preparing the surface

Step 1. Prepare the surface. Preparation of the substrate is necessary in order to ensure adhesion between the epoxy product and the substrate. Suitable methods are sanding or diamond-grinding. Any surfaces that have been contaminated with oils may also require chemical cleaning.

Step 2. Sweeping and cleaning of the floor. Use an industrial vacuum that picks up even small dust particles. The floor must be cleaned of all dusts and residues before starting to prime. Otherwise you will have various particles trapped within the coat and adhesion will be significantly weakened. The less micro-dust on the surface the less primer you will need.

Priming and Filling

Step 3. Prime the floor with a suitable epoxy primer. Always prime the floor, don’t believe claims that priming is not necessary. Priming will give your floor a longer life and better adhesion to the substrate. Furthermore it will seal the substrate thus eliminating the risks of bubbles and gasses. Priming also helps reduce the amount of product that will be required in the later stages. Ensure that the areas are ventilated properly. It is common to coat two layers of primer in order to properly seal the floor. Use a proper electrical mixer to mix the A and B component of the primer.

Step 4Fill all cracks, holes etc with epoxy grout. (This step can also take place before priming if you prefer) For thin cracks it may be necessary to slice them with a diamond cutter before filling in order to improve the anchoring of the grout.

Applying the epoxy floor coating

Step 5. Application of the first coat of epoxy paint. Empty all the contents of the hardener in the component A. Use an electrical mixer and mix at least for two minutes. Don’t skimp on the mixing! This step is very important. Poor mixing will lead to a tacky floor!


Step 6. Apply the product with a roller. Use a good quality roller, as poor quality rollers may start to shed. You should be able to re-coat after 24 hours. The next day you may notice various problems that have appeared such as cracks, holes etc. Make sure that these are sealed-filled before starting the next coat. You may also need to sand some uneven surfaces that appeared after the first coat. If necessary wait an extra dry for the grout to dry before re-coating.

Step 7 Apply the final coat. Before placing the final coat make sure all holes and cracks have been filled, and that all dust has been collected. Otherwise you will get an ugly texture on the final surface. Remember most epoxy products have a pot life of approximately 40 minutes (or less) so only mix one bucket at a time and get to work immediately.
